Africa loses 95$ billion per year due to Gender inequality,

By  Jamii Voice Media Reporter

"The 2016 Africa Human Development report states that Africa loses 95$ billion per year due to Gender inequality, "TGNP Executive Director, Lilian Liundi. She drew attention that major efforts have been conducted by the councils and district councils including boarding Schools for girls, sanitary napkins provision and maternity care improvement. These are major steps to a journey of a thousand miles since women and marginalised groups are disproportionately represented in the national budget. It is imperative that all budgets reflect the advances of Gender Responsive Budgeting.

Women and marginalised groups have been on the sidelines over the years but the 6th regime has been working to make this a story of the past. This involved Tanzania becoming a partner of Generation Equality Forum and the new decree of the Gender Based Violence agenda to be included in all council and district council meetings.

The session brought to attention that Gender Mainstreaming and GRB is the propeller to development in the nation.
